The other week I did some research on Key Performance Indicators,
and stumbled onto an old friend… the KPI Tree.

And it’s something we should all integrate into our marketing, really.

To understand it, think about the concept of health.

You want to be healthy, right?

But that’s not something you can control.

What’s more, there are certain indicators of health. Like Omega 3 levels,
cholesterol, vitamin D levels, etc.

But again, you can’t control that either.

So what can you control?

Simple – you can control…

  •  The amount of sun you get
  • The number of times you meditate
  • How long you are exposed to wi-fi
  • How much sugar you eat
  • Whether you take your vitamins
  • How much you microwave your food
  • How many steps a day you take
  • How much sleep you get
  • How much vigorous exercise you do
  • How much you socialise and have fun
  • How much you sit each day
  • How much sunshine you get

All of these things you can control, and they will have an impact on your
Cholesterol, insulin levels, vitamin D, etc.

And those factors will have an impact on your health and energy levels.

So how do you control your health.

You create KPI’s.

Things you must do every single week.

The same goes with business.

You have a revenue target, but you can’t control that.

Nor can you control the number of appointments, visitors to your web
site, etc. you get.

What you can control, however, is…

The number of emails you send out to your list.
The number of phone calls you make to your clients.
The amount of networking you do.
The amount of posts you make on social media.
The number of ads you run, etc.
